Airport to Taipei City

If you arrive TSA Airport, it is already in Taipei City.

For travelers arriving at TPE Taoyuan Airport, the easiest option for most people is Taoyuan Airport MRT. From Terminal 1 (A12) or Terminal 2 (A13), take the train to Taipei Main Station (A1). The Express Train (purple) takes about 35 minutes from Terminal 1, while the Commuter Train (blue) takes about 50 minutes. The Airport MRT fare between the airport and Taipei Main Station is NT$160.

Taxi will take about 45 minutes depending on traffic. The cost is about $1,500 NTD ($50 USD).

Travel within Taipei City

For MRT lines, the travel has price ranging from $20 NTD ($6 USD) to $60 NTD

Taxi in the city will usually not cost more than $300 NTD ($10 USD), and you can wave for a cab at the curb. Not all cabs are equipped with electronic payments, do ask before getting into one.

For Taipei's transportation, Metro Taipei issues transit cards (see here for details and options) for your travel for MTR lines, busses and convenience store payments. You can use the transit card not only for usual travels in Taipei, but also the Taoyuan Airport MRT.
